Virtual Writing Workship

On Tuesday, Oct 29, from 7 - 9 pm, EST, Mckay Rappleyea, will lead a virtual writing workshop titled "Publishing: Fitting into the Bigger Picture."

This workshop offers an insight and overview of the process of finding the right publishing fit for a manuscript. Topics will include evaluating different kinds of publishers, querying agents and the submission process, self-pitching, self-publishing, indie publishing, and more. The goal of this program is to help authors find the best fit for their work and give them tools to explore that option to the best of their ability. Please come with a project or projects in mind that you can prepare a pitch for and share with other authors for feedback. Come ready to discuss your goals and the deeper driving force behind your writing.

This workshop is open to writers of all skill levels and is a fun way to find inspiration or to move your writing in a new direction. Mckay is an author and illustrator living in North Carolina, and currently works for Familius publishing house, distributed by Abrams books. Currently the illustrator of 100 First Words for Little Utahns, 100 First Words for Little Latter Day Saints, and the author of C is for Cryptid. Mckay graduated with honors from Brigham Young University, with a Bachelor's degree in Editing and Publishing and has always been involved with books, from working at a public library as a teenager to freelance editing indie graphic novels. Outside of books you can find Mckay watching studio ghibli movies on rainy days and listening to soundtrack music while going for walks on sunny ones.
