Who created the Flat Rock Together initiative?

Flat Rock Together is a community project created and developed by a few of your neighbors with a lot of ideas and just a little bit of free time. This very non-commercial endeavor is an effort to create a greater sense of connection and community among the many wonderful residents (and friends) of Flat Rock.

What does Flat Rock Together do exactly?

We provide information about the events, people, and places in Flat Rock. Check out our Calendar page to see what is going on in Flat Rock. Check out our Good News page to read the latest information about the many interesting people and places in Flat Rock. And check out our Best of Flat Rock page to discover more about the businesses, organizations, and venues that help define the unique character of the village.

Does it cost anything to join Flat Rock Together?

Nope. We are thrilled to have you visit and hope you will join our initiative by subscribing to our mailing list, and by following us on Facebook and Instagram.

How is Flat Rock Together funded?

We are currently self-funded by our initial organizing committee. Maybe some day we will figure out other ways to raise money, but right now this initiative is mostly powered by big ideas and our shallow pockets. Plus the spare change we find between the couch cushions and under our car seats.

I have an idea for a project or story. How do I share that idea with Flat Rock Together?

This is great! You are our kinda person! Go to our Good News page and you will find a form to submit your ideas and suggestions. We appreciate your help and we are always looking for a good story about interesting people, places, and events in Flat Rock.

Can I submit events to be included on your Flat Rock Community Calendar?

Absolutely! Submit your ideas on our Calendar page. Keep in mind that we only list events, performances, or exhibitions (a) occurring in the Village of Flat Rock and (b) that are open to the public. Merchants having special exhibitions, live music, or demonstrations open to everyone are invited to submit their events as well.

Do you publish events happening in Henderson County outside of the Village of Flat Rock?

No. We are only listing events in Flat Rock. And that is plenty - our Village is a happening place!

Why should I sign up to be on your mailing list? Will that list be shared with other organizations?

Why join our mailing list? You mean, other than to be totally cool? Subscribers to our mailing list will receive periodic notifications of upcoming Village activities and be the first to see our Good News posts. Stay informed. Do good. Have fun. And celebrate Flat Rock with us!

We will never share your info with anyone. We promise to be the only organization popping up in your inbox.

Are you sponsored by, or under the auspices of, the Village of Flat Rock government or any other organization?

We are not. We are just a bunch of Flat Rockers with an idea and enough free time to make this happen. We will leave the government stuff to the very nice people at Village Hall. We will work on the fun stuff! As for all the naysayers in our past who said we’d never amount to anything, look at us now! Just don’t look before 8am. We tend to have serious bed hair and can be grumpy before that first cup of coffee.

Can’t your goals be accomplished by existing organizations or the Village government?

Sure. But we want to be a convenient, one stop destination for all things Flat Rock. Our goals is to be a place for you and your friends to quickly and easily see what is going on in Flat Rock this week, this month, this year. We also hope to introduce you to some of your interesting neighbors and perhaps tell you a little bit more of the back story of some of the more intriguing places in the Village.

How can I get involved?

Glad you asked! We are new and have a pretty significant to-do list of cool ideas and big dreams. So we are looking for volunteers to help us collect information, take photos, post to social media, write stories, suggest stories, work on projects we undertake in the village, and generally just work with us to make Flat Rock an even stronger community of cool neighbors, interesting places, and local hard working merchants.

Bah humbug! I don’t want to know more about Flat Rock and I have all the friends I need.
