EVENT INFORMATION
The Gallery at Flat Rock is hosting the Ninth Annual Art in Bloom, August 30 - September 1, 2024. The Labor Day weekend floral and art festival launches with a Preview Reception on Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at The Gallery at Flat Rock. The reception is $75 to attend, and reservations are required.
The preview party will feature local faire from American Refinery, Blue Ruby, Campfire Grill, Friends and Neighbors, Gateaux, Homemade Pasta Noodles, and wines from Marked Tree Vineyard. Live music and more will round out the evening under a beautifully appointed tent directly outside the gallery. Preview Party guests will peruse the floral and art pairings inside the gallery, meet the artists and floral designers, vote on their favorite featured pairing, and then mingle under the tent among fellow art lovers while wining and dining. The preview event always sells out, so guests are encouraged to purchase tickets early to secure a reservation.
The concept of Art in Bloom pairs twenty professional floral designers with an equal number of artists to present imaginative interpretations of juried works of art. Floral designers study the artwork and then create fresh floral interpretations based on what they experience. The floral pieces are exhibited in tandem with the artwork that inspired the designer, creating a dynamic visual display.
This year’s judges, selecting 20 works of art submitted for coveted inclusion in the annual show, are Lance Hiatt and Tim Parks of Marked Tree Vineyard. Before becoming proprietors of the vineyard, Lance and Tim spent 20 years in luxury retail management and architecture. They are avid fine art collectors, and Lance is a guiding force in the stunning florals regularly featured at Marked Tree Vineyard.
This year’s lead sponsor for the 2024 event is once again Hunter Volvo. Proceeds from the three-day event will benefit St. Gerard House, a Henderson County non-profit serving the Autism community. The program provides Intensive 1:1 ABA Therapy, family support, prevocational training, and a multitude of other innovative therapeutic services helping individuals with Autism and their families experience more joy and achieve meaningful outcomes. Caroline Long Tindall serves as Chief Executive Director, and Rachel Cushing Cook serves as Chief Clinical Director.
A St. Gerard House 50/50 Benefit Raffle will be held in conjunction with the Ninth Annual Art in Bloom event. The purchase of a $100 ticket for the 50/50 Cash Prize Raffle gives those who enter the opportunity to win up to $10,000 with fantastic odds – one in 150. Second prize is $5,000.
