Summer Evening Concerts

Each summer, Blue Ridge Community College offers summer concerts beside the College lake as a gift to the community. These free Sunday evening concerts are scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. and feature a wide range of musical and vocal groups. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs and picnics to enjoy the music by the lake.
The series location will be on the east side of the lake behind the Technology, Education and Development Center.
In the event of inclement weather, the concert will take place in the Technology, Education & Development Center (TEDC) Building.

Performers: Seth and Sara Brand
Local duo Seth and Sara have been truckin’ it across North America, chasing their dreams while performing their modern-western originals (along with covers like Tyler Childers, The Beatles, Colter Wall, John Denver, etc.) to anyone who will listen. With Seth praised on his mesmerizing vocals, guitar, and an ever-evolving suitcase kick, Sara lays down percussion with delicate vocals accompanying their cowboy-inspired tunes. Together, over the past four years, they have traveled to 49 states and all across western Canada, playing over 700 shows while sharing their music, their stories, and making countless memories and friends along the way. “If you enjoy a night filled with love, humor, heartbreak, dancing, and a rootsy kind of edge, then Seth and Sara is a show not to be missed!”

Performer: Nicholas Edward Williams
Host of the roots music history podcast “American Songcatcher,” Nicholas Edward Williams is a multi-instrumentalist and storyteller who is dedicated to “playing it forward” by preserving the songs, stories, artists and styles that have shaped our country: ragtime, piedmont blues, early country, traditional folk and old-time. Williams has spent the last 15 years touring three continents, performing all around the US, as well as the UK, Western Europe and Australia, blending the roots music spectrum in his own style. Under his previous project, Whetherman, Williams independently released eight revered records from 2007-2018. Under his own name, his critically acclaimed sophomore release from late 2021, Folk Songs for Old Times’ Sake has been heralded by well-regarded figures of the roots community such as David Holt, who said “With tasteful guitar arrangements and a voice that draws you right in, Nicholas’ recordings roll along like a mountain stream.”

Performers: Asheville Junction
Asheville Junction is a bluegrass/Americana band from the high country of North Carolina. Their lively, entertaining shows are filled with hot fiddlin’, harmonies and much more. Folks find themselves singing, clapping, and toe-tappin’ along to the music. Tierra Raiti, lead singer and fiddler for the band, has been noticed as a formidable rising musician, and was invited to appear on Woodsongs International Radio Show last year. Asheville Junction formed when mother-daughter duo Tierra and Maria Raiti moved to Asheville and joined up with long-time local musicians Brad Pope on upright bass, Tim Comstock on mandolin and Ken Sager on dobro.

Performers: Hearts Gone South
Hearts Gone South is an original, classic style country/ honky-tonk band that play songs full of heart and soul, laced with wit and woe. They bring fire and feeling to the age-old tales of love, loss, and victory for the underdog. Shooting straight from the hip with impassioned vocals, a tight rhythm section, and smoking leads, they hit their target dead on.

Performers: Tuxedo Junction
Tuxedo Junction is an iconic example of a cover music group. It has been playing the hits of countless other musical acts from the 1930s to present-day over the past three decades. The Asheville-based Tuxedo Junction was founded as a nightclub house band by drummer/vocalist/band leader, Joey Moore, with the band’s first performing date on January 1, 1988. Joey and the original lineup performed for the club owner for two years and finally branched out to become a more versatile group than what the country/rock n’ roll club dictated. Passing decades, and hundreds of events later, Tuxedo Junction continues to delight audiences with songs and musical styles that represent some of the best music from the past 80+ years!
