Lunch and Learn

Thursday, Sept 19th

10:30 am

Lunch & Learn Session One:
Sept. 19, 2024: Rev. Tim Jones, Into the Woods - Listening for the Deeper Meaning.
Ordained in the Episcopal Church in 2010, Tim Jones serves as a vocational deacon at St. James, focusing on feeding the hungry and providing shelter. He has been the COO of the Hendersonville Rescue Mission since 2001, overseeing a 77-bed homeless shelter, a free daily feeding program, a drop-in day center, a medical clinic, and transitional housing.
During this time together, Tim will challenge participants to see nature as not something out there apart from us. We are part of it, a living piece of the ongoing Earth story. Through that lens, we enter more deeply into the meaning of our own lives as well. It’s the idea that by learning to listen to the soul of the world in Nature, we can learn to listen to what’s in our own souls. Instead of simply viewing Nature as a place to escape from life, there’s a gift of renewal it offers us so that we can better serve those we’re called to serve.
A lover of words and colors, Tim is an avid hiker, storyteller, poet, and artist. His photographs and paintings have been featured in galleries and public spaces. He has published three books of poetry, including a book of blessings.
