Genealogy Society of Flat Rock

  • Flat Rock United States (map)

At our September 9th meeting, Victoria Flanagan will give a presentation on her ancestor, Daniel Frederick Bakeman, who is believed to have been the last surviving pensioner of the Revolutionary War. Additionally, she will present information about the National Society Descendants of American Farmers (NSDOAF) and the scholarships they provide.

She and her husband Dennis are the stewards of Hopewood in Flat Rock, where they have brought the property back to life and planted gardens that one may have seen over a hundred years ago. Victoria is an active member in Daughters of the American Revolution, the North Carolina Ambassador for the National Society Descendants of American Farmers. She is a NC State Master Gardener and participates on the NC State Extension Advisory Board.
